The short answer
What is included
Grab bars, handrails, detectors, gates, and anti-tip anchors, all anchored to something real. I am Brody, I do the work myself, and I cover Langley, Surrey, White Rock, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, and Cloverdale. Cost starts at the $200 minimum per job, and you get the price in a written estimate before I start.
Two kinds of household call me for this work. Adult children helping a parent stay in their own home, who need grab bars, handrails, and non-slip surfaces put in properly rather than stuck to tile with adhesive. And parents childproofing, who need cabinet locks, gates, and anti-tip anchors that hold when a toddler pulls. Both come down to the same thing: what the hardware is fastened into. I find the stud or I use an anchor rated for the real load, then I test it. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors go in to BC code. I do home safety and aging-in-place installs across Langley, Surrey, White Rock, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, and Cloverdale.

What people ask about home safety solutions
How many smoke detectors does my home need?
BC code requires one inside every bedroom, one outside each sleeping area, and one on every level including the basement. A typical 3-bedroom home needs 5 to 6 detectors.
Can you install grab bars in the shower?
Yes. I anchor grab bars into studs or with toggle anchors rated for the load, and I test each one before I leave. Suction-cup bars and anything fastened only to tile will let go at the moment it matters, which is why bathroom grab bars are the highest-impact install I do.
I want to help my parents stay in their house. Where do you start?
Usually the bathroom and the stairs, because that is where falls happen. Grab bars by the toilet and in the shower, a handrail that is actually fastened to framing rather than drywall, and non-slip treatment on the tub and the treads. Lever handles instead of round knobs help too, for hands that have stopped gripping well. Send me photos of the bathroom and the stairwell and I will scope it in writing.
Do you do full aging-in-place renovations?
No, and it is worth being clear about the line. Widening doorways, moving walls, and curbless shower conversions are renovation work for a contractor. What I do is the fitted hardware around that: bars, rails, handles, non-slip, and detectors. That covers most of what actually keeps someone safe, at a fraction of a renovation.
Are anti-tip anchors really necessary?
Yes, especially for tall furniture in a home with children. Anti-tip anchoring is a small install that can prevent a serious hazard.

When a detector or a grab bar lets go, it lets go at the anchor, so that is where the time goes.
