Backsplashes are the job I am pickiest about, and I say that as the person doing them. Tile at eye level in the most-used room of the house shows every rushed cut, so mine do not get rushed. In Abbotsford kitchens I lay out the pattern before a single tile is set: subway, herringbone, picket, hexagon, mosaic sheets, or large-format, with the outlet cut-outs kept crisp and the inside corners mitred so they actually meet.
