The local scope

Backsplashes in Cloverdale, scoped in writing first.

Backsplashes are my favourite work anywhere, and Cloverdale kitchens give me plenty of them. Clayton Heights townhomes often come with a painted gap between counter and cabinets that a subway or picket backsplash finishes properly, and the older kitchens around Cloverdale Town Centre and in West Cloverdale are where a new backsplash does the most visual work, pulling a dated room together without a renovation. This is detail trade: the cuts around outlets stay crisp, the grout lines run consistent, and the inside-corner miters actually meet. Subway, mosaic, herringbone, hexagon, large-format, and natural stone are all in regular rotation, with Schluter trim or pencil-tile edges to finish the ends cleanly. You buy the tile you love, or send photos and I will flag layouts that will fight your wall before you order. The written estimate includes a working timeline, since grout and detail caulk need the thinset to set first, and the $150 minimum is the only price that exists before I have seen your kitchen.

Field note

Here is the shape of a Cloverdale backsplash job. Day one I prep the wall, set the layout so cuts land where they are least visible, and lay the tile, keeping outlet cut-outs tight enough that the cover plates sit flush with spacer rings where needed. The second working session is grout, sealing where the stone calls for it, and the final caulk lines at the counter and corners. In a Clayton Heights townhouse the run is usually compact and finishes quickly; the older West Cloverdale and Town Centre kitchens often have window returns and uneven plaster corners that deserve the extra layout time. You get a kitchen that photographs like it was always meant to look that way.

Pricing

What a Cloverdale backsplash is priced by.

Tile size, layout and the number of outlets set the hours. This is my specialty, so I quote the layout I would actually cut, including the trim pieces most quotes leave out. You approve a written number before I pick up a tool in Cloverdale.

Asked in Cloverdale

Backsplash questions from Cloverdale kitchens.

There is a painted gap between my counter and cabinets. Is that a backsplash job?

It is the most common one I take in Clayton Heights. A subway or picket run finishes that gap the way the builder should have, and the estimate includes the working timeline, because grout and detail caulk need the thinset to set first.

My older Cloverdale kitchen has a window return and uneven corners. Problem?

It deserves the extra layout time, which I build in. Cuts get planned to land where they are least visible, outlet openings stay tight enough for the cover plates to sit flush, and the inside-corner miters actually meet.
